REMEMBRANCE DAY at Stewiacke Legion
- Details
Line up at 10:45 am - do the march to the cenotaph, service begins, minute of silence at 11, laying of wreaths and then back to the legion.
We will be hosting a community chilli and hotdogs for anyone who cares to join upstairs following - free of charge.
Trial Extended Hours 2023
- Details
In response to citizen input for enhanced accessibility to services, we are testing the uptake of a late opening, one day a week, for a period of 6 months.
At the end of the test period we will gather the data collected, such as numbers of participants, services used by participants and frequency of service use to determine if the access is feasible going forward.
Therefore: Effective January 5-June 29, 2023, for a 6 month TRIAL period, The Town office will be open until 6:30pm Thursdays only.
Fiona Assistance
- Details
The Provincial Incident Management Team who was responsible for the resources allocated to the response to Hurricane Fiona has now been stood down.
If residents still require assistance, they are encouraged to apply to the financial programs that are being offered by Red Cross by calling 1-800-863-6582 and through the Provincial Disaster Financial Assistance program (https://beta.novascotia.ca/disaster-financial-assistance-hurricane-fiona).
Forms can be printed from the site provided or picked up at your local MLA office.
211 Nova Scotia can answer questions about the application process and help identify what information and supporting documents you need.
It is important for everyone who was impacted by Hurricane Fiona to keep referring to the Provincial Disaster Financial Assistance site to ensure that they have the most current information.

Fall 2022 Hydrant Flushing
- Details
The Town of Stewiacke wishes to advise all town residents that the Fall hydrant flushing will begin on:
- Sunday, October 23rd, with zone "A".
- Tuesday, October 25th, with zone "B",
- Thursday, October 27th, with zone "C",
- Sunday, October 30th, with zone "D",
- Monday, October 31st, with zone "E",
- Tuesday, November 1st with zone "F",
- Thursday, November 3rd, with zone "G".
Flushing will take place between the hours of 11:00 pm and 5:00 am. Customers are advised to shut off their hot water tanks and that some discoloration and/or low water pressure could be experienced. The town regrets any inconvenience this may have on its residents.

Hydrant Flushing Program (Areas)
The hydrant flushing program for the Town of Stewiacke will include seven (7) different areas. Following is a list of the areas and the sections of Town that each area includes:
- Area A: St Andrews St, Edgewood Dr, Smith St, Meadowview Dr, Abby Grace Lane and Sharon Anne’s Way
- Area B: Tower Rd, Windcrest St, Kitchener St (from Tower Rd to George St), Highland Dr, Rayclare Cresent, Hillcrest Dr, Lewis St and George St
- Area C: Kitchener St (from Tower Rd to the end), Rockwell Dr, Sherbrooke St, Hillside Cres and Matthews Dr
- Area D: Main St East (from Tower Rd to the end), Cavil St, St Andrews St ext and Pleasant Hill
- Area E: Main St East (from the railroad crossing to Riverside Ave), Riverside Ave, Riverside Ave ext, Joffre St ext, Dunrovin St, Asquith Ave and Kelry Dr
- Area F: Main St West (from Riverside Ave to the #2 highway including the Fire Hall), Ridge Ave and Perry Cres
- Area G: Main St West (from the #2 Highway to the end of Main St West including Scotia Drive and Gibson Blvd)
